it will be very tough , I just don’t see England playing 3 flawless games in a row...  This was their final , they played like it was their final and celebrated like their final.  I’ve always felt we have England’s number , should have beaten them at Twickenham.  Will be tough , but they are beatable  | |

Takties en fisies was hul uitoorlê. Edited by Attie Karate - 26-Oct-2019 at 3:58pm | |

En ook eintlik penaliseer by die skrums, ens. ABs het vir die eerste keer wat ek kan onthou meer penalties afgestaan as wat hulle gewen het, want ref het bietjie balls gehad vir n slag. Edited by TunaLion - 26-Oct-2019 at 4:22pm

Very interesting how many South Africans write us off.  We have the best set piece and the best defense. Just because Faf kicks the ball , doesn’t mean we can’t win test matches. We’ve scored more points and more tries than any other team , dis we have easier games ?? Maybe here and there , but 2 years ago we lost against Italy , now we gave them a PROPER hiding.  Italy would have been preparing for our games for the last 2 years , the knew they would have to beat us to play in the play offs.  Scotland and Ireland beat England in the last 2 years , they are all out of the comp.  We might not like the game plan , that doesn’t matter , if we win then the rest is history.  I’ve been very disappointed with the lions , playing an amazing brand of running rugby , losing in 3 finals. If the boks win, boring as it may be , that becomes irrelevant.  | |

Agreed. The brand of rugby isn't as important as results. Everyone likes watching running rugby, but we only care about winning. Winning will have people watching, at home and in the stands.

Don't think anything wrong with the Lions brand of rugby. Many teams have won SR titles and world Cups with attacking play. As long as defense, ball retention and basics are correctly implemented, it all boils down to limiting mistakes and imposing your game plan, which is where good coaching comes into play (ie Jones & Mitchell). England, the way they played this far, are certainly the team to beat, but anyhing can happen in a final.

the lions played the best rugby of all sides from 16-18 , yet we didn’t win.  Why didn’t we win?? Defense defense defense . We didn’t even have a defensive coach , in this day and age. What were the lions thinking , how we for the love of G , did not appointed a defense coach is a joke. In 2019 we had Joey , what a joke.  People can say the boks are backwards , boring ect ect. Defense is 50% of rugby , we have 15 very committed players on the field. They wear their hearts on their sleeves . They will tackle all day every day. The lions had 3 years to learn that lesson , te we couldn’t , we just “wanted to score tries” . And yes it was beautiful to watch , but if we had that gold medal around our necks I couldn’t care less , we didn’t.  The boks however can (and probably will)

Very true. We all love attacking rugby, however great defence tends to trump great offence. Take the NZ vs England semi as a case in point of this. NZ had no answers and were making these ridiculous kicks when even outside England's 22 desperately searching for some space. Beudan & Jordi Barret looked like amateurs and simply choked - they even had worse games then Willie vs Japan. Their kicks were coming off the side of their boots and they barely made 15m with some of their clearance kicks. All because of the defence and being gatvol of being tackled silly.

In 2018 we dominated territory and possession. We attack and attack and attack , couldn’t score. Commies had a clean break and we didn’t finish.  The saders took their chances , is that good attack or weak defense ? If your coach’s policy is to “score tries” at all costs , then chances are it was weak defense.  Defense was an after thought at the lions.  The boks built their game around sting defense. It’s not like we can’t attack (loftus vs NZ last year). But we tend to be on the right side of the scoreboard when we play a pressure game.
