Great man!

Again, Joey was a decent coach at age group level, winning the U19 CC in his first year, becoming assistant coach at the Junior Bokke. Can't be that bad as a coach. And his case is still on appeal. The Lions would not have kept him on if they felt he did not have a chance on his appeal.
Have you ever coached rugby at SR level? Have you experienced that kind of pressure, irrespective of the final straw that broke the camel's back? These issue are not something to make fun of.
The only thing I can agree with you on this post is that Niel has not been up to scratch as an attack coach.

Nope, never coached at all and I can promise u, I don't think any of this is funny...
Case being on appeal still means he was found GUILTY by a court based on the evidence available... So if I shot someone in cold blood and was found guilty and I appeal the verdict, does it all of a sudden mean I am innocent?  I honestly don't care whether he is the best coach the world has ever seen, he should not be coaching at the Lions... Fact is he was found guilty of a crime in a foreign country while representing his employer...

I wonder if the union would be comfortable putting him in charge of one of our womens teams? If they believe he is innocent then they should have no problem putting a known, guilty sexual offender in charge of women.

We may be rugby fans, but certainly not fanatics that would cut corners on a moral issue such as this.
Don't think someone like Louis Luyt would have been intimidated by any political pressure in similar situation. If memory serves me right, the Lions sacked someone a few years back for minor office sexual harassment.

Regarding coaching, who is responsible for selecting junior and school coaches into high pressure professional coaching positions?

The Lions conducted their own investigation into the whole affair. They had a respected labour relations firm conduct the investigation and hearing. They followed the legal advice given to them. Case closed until after the appeal process has run its course. I don't condone sexual harassment, but with the info that I have, its not a clear cut case.

How do we know how we will react in a pressure situation? We may handle different types of pressure differently, but we all have a breaking point and something gives. We never know how we will react until we are in those situations.

Yet the Lions only had one side of the story to go on... The Victim and the witnesses were not available for the "internal hearing". I highly doubt that an Australian court would have found him guilty if it was not, as you call it, a clear cut case...
Fact of the matter is, that he is a married man, representing his employer in a foreign country that made sexual advances to another woman... Solicited or not (court found that it was unsolicited), no professional person should make himself guilty of such behavior.
In my books, merely going to church on a Sunday and asking for forgiveness does not cut it. He should have been punished for his actions and not rewarded with a head coaching position...

We thought we had depth issues this year, things have gone from bad to worse .

My concern is that we had very few guys in the Bok u/20s squad and further to this UJ and Wits dont content for the varsity cup either.

is this a result of the new contracting system? Our rugby is under serious threat.

And SARU thinks by paying the "BEST" Boks more , they will stay, well they wont. They will get greedy anyway and we will lose youngsters due to having limited contracts available

we are losing so many players but it seems like we are not filling those holes. Don't hear anything about new signings and we can't rely to much on our junior systems you still need experience.

The problem is that there arent too many players with experience in the market, hence the negotiations with players like Ulengo. That is also the reason we used players like Groom and Lewies.
