SA Rugby says it won’t comment on reports that CEO Jurie Roux is set to leave to take up a position with World Rugby at the end for the year. Afrikaans newspaper Rapport indicated on Sunday that Roux’s alleged appointment would be accelerated if Agustin Pichot replaces Bill Beaumont as World Rugby’s Chairperson after the organisation's election on 10 May. But, Andy Colquhoun, SA Rugby’s GM: Communications had this to say when approached for comment: “We don’t comment on speculation or opinion, nor provide a running commentary on ongoing events, I’m afraid. When something has actually happened, we announce it to everyone at the same time.” The Rapport story went on to say that should Pichot lose out to Beaumont, Roux was still expected to become a full-time employee of World Rugby. It’s believed that Roux has been earmarked for the post of World Rugby CEO for some time. Currently, the role is occupied by Australian Brett Gosper. Roux has been SA Rugby CEO since 2010. |
