Elton Jantjies will lead the Emirates Lions on the field in their Vodacom Super Rugby opener against the Jaguares in Argentina on Sunday morning 01:00 (SA time).

Jantjies has 134 career Super Rugby caps (121 for the Super Lions) while his career points stand on 1092. This include 12 tries, 261 conversions, 164 penalties and 6 drop goals.

Adding his 13 Super matches and 11 points for the Stormers, he has scored 1103 points in Super Rugby; only the fifth player in the competition's history to achieve this: Dan Carter 1708, Morne Steyn 1449, Beauden Barrett 1211, Elton Jantjies 1103, Stirling Mortlock 1037.

Courtnall Skosan holds the record for the most Emirates Lions tries, 33 after 72 matches.

Looks like a decent side (Given what we have)

Throw Roelof Smit, Willem Alberts and Jaco Kriel into the mix and we have some serious depth at loose forward.

Alberts must play lock , with Schoeman off the bench.

Our backs could be exciting , we have "outside backs" all round, with Kriel and Matthews having good speed.

The Voster and Mapoe center combination we had last year, were pretty slow. (Voster was quick, before he hurt his knee).

Green and Skosan , very dangerous. Not sure about Swanepoel, I hope he steps up. At least we have Coetzee that is now a senior player, when is he back?

Weight not necessarily the deciding factor of how good a prop is. He will tire very quickly.

Not sure if I agree with you. Yes, Schoeman and Massyn lack experience, but both have loads of potential. Orie has test match experience. Schoeman is a terrier at the break down and has low center of gravity, and is very strong on the carry. Tshituka also lacks experience, but is a really quick and explosive player. I think these players are a little bit of an unknown quantity for the Jags, so will really give a good account of themselves.

Marnus staan vir niemand terug nie, hy sal hulle erg besig hou.

Ruben het ouens ore aangesit in die Currie Cup, ek glo hy gaan dieselfde doen.
