Elton , will probably make the side

Willemse , is playing fullback and they would have played him at 10 if he was the backup for Pollard.

Bosch has been good, I don't see them taking such a young flyhalf , if Pollard gets injured you want experience at a world cup. Bosch could make the squad as he can play both 15 and 10, but if Pollard gets injured Jantjies will probably start with Bosch on the bench.

Could personally not care less who gets the Bok call-up at 10. All the South African no 10s have been pretty average the past two years. Think we lost the game against the Sharks when the team selection was announced. The intercepts were just the results of the Lions backs trying to force the game against a good defense after the forwards were outmatched for most of the game.

I dont think the forwards were outmatched at all. The last 2 - 3 games our backs were starting to get some decent go forward ball at last. Although we struggled a bit with our maul defense as well as our maul attack, we dominated the possession stats as well as the territory stats, which suggest that our forward play and our game management were better than that of the Sharks. We won almost everything except for the match. 2 intercept tries, of which one were from an offside position, and a couple of dodgy calls by the officials cost us the game.

There was not much in the game, but I do think when it came to absorbing and applying pressure close to the goal line, their pack had the edge. They were also dominant in the scrums for large parts of the game. Our best attacking moves came from our backs, including great interplay between Jantjies and Mapoe for the first, as well as a lovely long range try. The two intercepts (especially the second), could just as well have resulted in treis for us.

I think the game could very easily have gone our way. Remember the second intercept was a 14 point swing (12 minimum). That try would've change the complexion of the entire game.

I don't understand that 2nd intercept,

Mapimpi was clearly in the line of pass, so he was seriously exposed, a little grubber and we would have scored. Or just hold on to the ball, the pass was just not on.

I think it shows that Jantjies sometimes is slow to adapt to the situation in front of him?

He is brilliant or bad, that little pass to Mapoe for the first try was a beaut

Against the highlanders he was on fire.

Its frustrating , or maybe it is what it is, when you have a running fly half then there will always be risks taken , some work , some dont

Leeus teen Stormers: Andries Coetzee; Courtnall Skosan, Lionel Mapoe, Harold Vorster, Aphiwe Dyantyi; Shaun Reynolds, Ross Cronjé; Kwagga Smith, Vincent Tshituka, Cyle Brink, Marvin Orie, Stephan Lewies, Carlu Sadie, Malcolm Marx, Dylan Smith. Reserwes: Jan-Henning Campher, Sti Sithole, Johannes Jonker, Reinhard Nothnagel, Marnus Schoeman, Hacjivah Dayimani, Nic Groom, Tyrone Green.

Probably our best side given the Jantjies and Whiteley unavailability.

Vermaak and Venter need to get opportunities as well, would have swapped them for Nohnagel and Dayimani

I'm very happy with Tshituka starting, would definitely put Vermaak in for Dayimani, so we have 2 locks on the bench, since this is our main problem area. Maybe that is also why it seems Brink isn't perfoming- 'cause he has to do the lock's jobs too.

Ek sien die nou op SA rugby......

Lions coach Swys de Bruin has confirmed that captain Warren Whiteley will be out for the remainder of the Vodacom Super Rugby season due to an injury.

Whiteley has been nursing an ongoing knee injury and the Lions coach admitted on Thursday that the No 8 will not be fit in time to be considered for Super Rugby selection again this year.
