I do believe our defense will improve from last year (can't really get worst), but our game plan will not change. I see Dobson is talking about changing the game plan and following Rassie's idea. It will not work, you need 2 massive packs and WP does not have that. Also they don't have Nienaber, so it might be a long season even with the boks they have.

They have a large portion of the bok pack, don't they? Only EE and 1 other bok I can't remember now (might be De Allende) won't be available to them in 2020. So it should be fairly easy for them to continue the bok gameplan
They don't have a Bok second row and their lineouts have been poor for a number of seasons already. The experiment to convert PSdT to a #5 didn't work and I'm glad to see that it has been dumped.

The Bok plan worked with two interchangeable tight 5 packs. No SA team has that

That's what I have heard as well, with Lemmer looking after the breakdowns.

Cash has been making the right noises regarding a more balanced approach. I always maintain that a team should build scoreboard pressure early on. Take the points on offer, build a 14+ points lead to make sure the game is in the bag first before going for the bonus point try. With the current bonus point system, defence should be very important, to prevent the opposition from scoring a try that could rob you of a bonus point, and potentially a home play off game.

Wasn't PSDT originally a 5, converted to a 7?

Well, they still have Bongi (bok starter), Malherbe (starter), Kitshoff?, PSDT (world player of the year), Kolisi (bok captain). Elstadst's name was bandied about a lot before the WC as a player on standby. On paper they'll have one of the best packs in the competition. Lets see how that works out for them.

He was a 7 as a junior. The move to 5 started when he moved to the Sharks afaik. HM's idea?

Moving Lemmer to concentrate on rucks would be a dumb move in my opinion.  He (Lemmer) has done a solid job with our scrums the past two seasons, but has been average to poor in improving the forwards rucks and mauls  thus far. Warren has the cerebral qualities to improve the forwards all round play.

Lemmer word dan die afbreekpunt afrigter (breakdowns). Ek dink Lemmer en Redelinghuys het seker saam na ons skrums gekyk en sal seker steeds daarmee voortgaan?

Oh ok. I just remembered him playing 5 with EE mostly, and moving to flank every now and again.

Dit sal nice wees as die unie die volle afrigting struktuur en spelers squad kan aankondig voor die einde van die jaar.

That could be a case of too many chefs, having a forwards coach, break down coach and scrum coach.

I would use Waza as a Defense coach rather. But it looks like the call is already made.

Lemmer is a wrestler , he understands how to use your body weight to move opponents of the ball, but that isn’t a full time job , doesn’t seem economically viable to me
