The Disciplinary process related
to Hyron Andrews Red Card and George Cronje citing in the Vodacom United Rugby Championship Round 4 game against Zebre Parma on Friday, November 10 has resulted in a four game suspension for both players.
After an
act of foul play by Hollywoodbets Sharks player No 19 (Hyron Andrews), referee Peter Martin showed the Player a Red Card in the 77th minute of the game, while Hollywoodbets Sharks player No 8 (George Cronje) was then cited for involvement in the same tackle. Both Players were sanctioned under Law
9.18 – A player must not lift an opponent off the ground and drop or drive that player so that their head and/or upper body make contact with the ground.
The Panel overseeing the disciplinary process Declan Goodwin (Chair, WRU), John Kirk (SRU), Mark Curran (IRFU), found that both incidents met the
Red Card threshold, with entry of low-range warranting six weeks. The Players received two weeks mitigation due to their good records and an active part in the hearing which results in a four game
suspension.
