Everitt to continue experimenting with Sharks“It will be exciting playing against a Lions team with a similar style of play, moving the ball around and giving it air,” said captain Lukhanyo Am.Sharks coach Sean Everitt has named a largely experimental team for Saturday’s Preparation Series match against the Lions in Johannesburg. Only two Springboks will run out at the start, namely captain Lukhanyo Am and No 8 Sikhumbuzo Notshe. Two other Boks will play off the bench – prop Thomas du Toit and Curwin Bosch. New recruit, Siya Kolisi, is still not ready for action after joining from Western Province and the Stormers a month ago. “This preparation series has been an opportunity for the coaches to test depth, try new combinations and to see what we have,” explained captain Am. “It’s been beneficial for the squad and helped the coaches make decisions going forward. “We know what type of team the Lions are and what threats they bring, but this is a game where our focus is on ourselves, trying to master our own DNA and style of play. “It will be exciting playing against a Lions team with a similar style of play, moving the ball around and giving it air. From our side, we’ll be looking to execute the plan and showcasing our DNA.” |

Lions opt for experience Elton Jantjies will lead an experienced Lions team when they host the Cell C Sharks in their second home game of the Preparation Series at Emirates Airline Park on Saturday afternoon.
The Lions have given all their players an opportunity during these preparation games and by next week everyone returning to action should also get a run. Fred Zeilinga has been added on the bench while on trial to give him an opportunity to prove himself. Youngster Ngia Selengbe secured a starting berth after catching the eye in the win against the EP Elephants.
Kick-off is at 16:15. | Beginspan lyk redelik mededingend voorlangs en op 10,12 en 13. Bekommernis is dat daar te veel spelers is wat gekontrakteer word wat min indruk in hulle vorige unies/spanne kom maak (Kriel, Zeilinga, Warner en Swanepel) |

Tuna, ek sou weer se dat 'n hele paar van die spelers wat jy noem (Fav, Mostert, Tecklenburg, Whiteley, Skosaan, Combrinck en Schalk) beslis groot impak gemaak het op juniors en klub vlak sowel as by die kleiner unies, en dat anders as die ander groot unies, Ackerman dit opgemerk het en aan hulle 'n aanbod gemaak. Kriel, Zeilinga, Warner aan die ander kant, het al 'n hele paar seisoene die geleendheid gehad om senior rugby te speel, sonder om impak te maak. Swanepoel is nog redelik jonk, maar hy moet meer na die tafel toe bring as sy kanonfoet.

Daai strafskop was ñ klug en is deel van die rede hoekom soveel minder mense belangstel in rugby. Hy het letterlik ñ strafskop teen hom gekry omdat dit gelyk het asof hy hom op ñ onwetige manier wou tackle. Maar hy het hom mis getackle. Belaglik. ------------- Up the Vaal! |

Ek moet se, ek was nogal verras met Dreyer se vertoning op loskop. MJ Pelser was absoluut briljant, behalwe vir daai breinpoep, toe hy die bal in Fassi vasgeskop het. Ek hou ook al hoe meer van Francke Horn. Hy is vir my stukke beter as Len Massyn. Wat my pla is die hoeveelheid beslissings wat die officials verkeerd gehad het ten spyte van die tegnologie. Daai tackle van Alberts was so ver van gevaarlik af as my ouma se kat. Richardson se 2de drie het hul ook verkeerd gehad. Rasta het ook met die sharks se eerste drie gemys dat Meyer se knie op die grond was tydens die skrum. En by n ander skrum het hy reguit grond toe gegaan, en is nie gestraf nie. Na gisteraand se Puma Cheetah game wil ek dink die beste ref/tmo kombinasie is tans Stuart Berry en daai vroue ref Ek dink dis Amy Barret-Theron of so iets. Ek was nooit n Berry fan nie, maar gisteraand kon ek nie veel fout vind met sy vertoning nie.

| Berry was 'n paar jaar terug een van die swakker refs in die mix, maar hulle is almal nou so swak dat hy goed lyk. Ek stem saam dat hy en Peyper tans kop en skouer bo die res is. Daai 2de drie van Richardson was verseker 'n 2de beweging, het geen idee hoe dit gegee is as 'n drie nie |

| Pelser en Horn speel altwee lekker tempo en lyk honger om hulle plekke in die span te hou. Daai grubber van Pelser was darem 'n baie swak opsie vir 'n losvoorspeler, veral omdat dit toe op punte teen ons uitgeloop het |

| Dreyer lyk baie beter op loskop. Dis tyd dat hy nou slegs op loskop fokus, veral met Dylan Smith wat weg is. MJ Pelser, Tshituka en Simelane is jong spelers wat ons MOET behou as ons weer 'n kampioenspan wil bou. Al drie was baie indrukwekkend gister. Ons "exits" kort werk. En as Skosan weer 'n afskop bal laat val gaan ek 'n aar bars. Dit kos ons elke keer punte en 'n momentum-swaai. |

| Sharks het ons ook twee driee op 'n skinkbord gegee, Campher en Simelane se driee. Was ook nie beindruk met Simelane wat probeer systap met 'n oop doellyn voor hom en dan oor sy eie voete val nie |

| Dreyer was eintlik nog altyd 'n loskop, so weet nie wat die plan was met hom op vaskop nie, maar soos jy se met Dylan Smith nou weg moet hy eerder weer op loskop fokus. Sti sal ook weer terug wees van sy besering, dan het ons 3 goeie loskoppe |

| Baie foute en baie sagte oomblike, maar ten minste het alby spanne vir verandering probeer speel. Losvoorspelers (veral Tshetuka en Pelser) was goed, maar dat 'n stut ons buite agterspelers so gemaklik platfoets laat lyk sien mens nie elke dag nie. |
