SA Rugby announced on Friday that Microsoft South Africa, a global organisation that enables digital transformation for the era of an intelligent cloud and an intelligent edge, has joined their family of partners as the official cloud partner.

The new deal with Microsoft aims to transform the world of rugby by using cloud capabilities to unlock new opportunities for SA Rugby in the ever-evolving digital space.

“Using the cloud, Microsoft will work with SA Rugby to embrace digital transformation, connect with our fans worldwide, and provide more personal experiences and improve and create revenue streams,” said Jurie Roux, CEO of SA Rugby.

The changes in the digital world over the last few years have unlocked new opportunities for SA Rugby, our clubs, provincial unions and franchises to challenge the convention and to re-think how sports is played, coached, watched, and experienced.

“The partnership with Microsoft will create an opportunity for us to develop innovative solutions to do things that weren’t possible previously.”

Kethan Parbhoo, Chief Operations and Marketing Officer at Microsoft South Africa, said: “In today’s hyper-connected, data-driven digital economy, sport like every other industry, is experiencing a massive digital transformation.

“Those who are early adopters are winning and we’re proud to be the official cloud partner of a winning team. By working together with SA Rugby, we can deliver an enhanced viewing experience where passion and technology intersect,” added Parbhoo.
