Cape Town - There appears to be uncertainty regarding Swys de Bruin's future as Lions head coach.

De Bruin assisted the Springboks last month during their Tests against Wales and England as an attack consultant.

He has since returned to coach the Lions in Super Rugby, but rumours have surfaced that he may join the Boks on a full-time basis.

Afrikaans website  https://www.netwerk24.com/Sport/Rugby/Super-Rugby/leeus-breier-kap-terug-na-kritiek-20180704" rel="nofollow - Netwerk24  reported on Thursday that a final decision regarding De Bruin’s future at the Lions was yet to be made.

And an announcement regarding his future involvement with the Springboks is expected to be made in due course.

For the moment, De Bruin's attention is on his job at the Lions who currently top the  https://www.sport24.co.za/rugby/superrugby/logs" rel="nofollow - South African Conference  in Super Rugby by three points.

Their position at the summit is however under threat after losing to the Sharks in Durban last weekend.

The Lions have a bye this weekend and will lose their top spot in the conference if the Jaguares manage to beat the Bulls in Pretoria.

The Lions' final round-robin match is against the Bulls in Johannesburg on July 14.

Hy is 'n bevoegde hulpafrigter.

I also have mixed feelings about this. Swys is a nice guy and a great assistant coach. But he has struggled to find his feet as a head coach this year. He will add a new dimension to the Springbok attack and backline play.
If we do need to find a new coach, I think we will need to look overseas. As good a coach as Guns Stonehouse is, I don't think he will fit into the Lions culture.

Does anyone have any ideas of good local coaches who could do the job with the Lions?
Herkie Kruger has done well with the juniors. He could do the job with the senior players.

I think swys can be to emotional! Players need calm coach which can direct them in right direction.

Isn't herkie kruger the supersport team coach? If so, he shouldn't come close to the super rugby team.

I think that if we look within the structures of the Lions, I'd probably go with Philip Lemmer, the forwards coach. Our pack was usually quite good in most games. I also think Forwards tend to make better coaches than backs.

Eerder nou begin plan maak, as later.

Of nee Swys bly by ons.

One thing the union can improve on is their communication with supporters and media..
