The annual salary cap for the Stormers, Sharks, Lions, and Vodacom Bulls has reportedly been increased from R67.2 million to R85 million for the 2023-24 season. According to Sunday newspaper Rapport, the cap boost was approved during a meeting of the South African Rugby Employers’ Organisation, with ratification from the MyPlayers’ association expected in due course. And an additional R10m hike has been set for the 2024-25 season. Perhaps the most impactful development is the dispensation for each franchise to contract four senior ‘marquee players’ – in addition to the mandated 53-man squad – whose salaries do not count towards the team’s cap number. |

Soos ek die cap verstaan beteken dit die unies mag nie meer as daai bedrag spandeer nie. Dit beteken nie hul het fisies soveel geld om uit te gee nie. ------------- Up the Vaal! |
