DUNCAN NO LONGER IN LINE TO COACH KINGS

Rory Duncan has reportedly ruled himself out of contention to become the next Kings head coach.

Duncan is currently the head coach of the Worcester Warriors, but has been told he is no longer in the English club’s plans. Having been given permission to speak to the Kings, he has now withdrawn himself from the process, according to Rapport newspaper.

Samoa coach Steve Jackson is now the favourite to succeed Deon Davids, who left the Kings last month, but the New Zealander would only be able to join the Kings after the World Cup.

Of the other candidates on the Kings’ four-man shortlist, Cheetahs forwards coach Corniel van Zyl was ruled out of contention for the job as he doesn’t have a level-three coaching certificate.

According to Rapport, former Bok coach Peter de Villiers also does not have not that coaching qualification, which counted against him getting the Kings job despite his experience of coaching at the highest level.
