Daar was tye in die eerste helfde waar die jong pak voorspelers hul man goed gestaan het. Daar was ongelukkig (met twee of drie uitsonderings) min variasies agterlangs om op die B&IL se verdediging te veel te pla.

Ja nee kyk hierdie ouens is manne van internationale gehalte .... fisies sterker, vinniger en fikser ... breuk tekkels soos niks.
Ouens soos EW Viljoen, Ulengo, Rass en nog n paar ander bly maar net goeie klub spelers. As ons weer n krag wil word in rugby sal ons vd average spelers moet ontslae raak Franke Horn en Schoeman het goed vertoon , ons kort heelwat game breaker

Mens wil nie eintlik te persoonlik teenoor die spelers raak nie, maar een ou wat my elke wedstryd teleurstel is Dan Kriel, dis die een blaps na die ander. Ek het regtig beter van hom verwag, en hy kom net nie reg nie.

We managed to do that, if you look at the 2009 side be what we have now. Then the result was probably “good”. |

I am going to be honest, I feel the scoreline flattered them somewhat and we were not that bad. Remember, this was one hell of a strong team, they could analyze us based om many of our previous performances, while we simply had the 1 performance to analyze of theirs - the 1 match vs Japan, where only Josh Adams (a winger) played. That is not much to go on. I absolutely agree with Cash when he mentioned this also afterwards and that this 1 additional match will be crucial for the fellow SA teams in terms of prep for the B&I Lions games. Then this must also be one of the youngest ever teams to have played against the B&I Lions and we held out own for much of the game. Our scrums were also impressive and we should have been rewarded a couple of times for their props dropping their binds and either having their hands or elbows on the floor. Then AJ Jacobs is probably one of the worst refs I have ever seen. He clearly didnt want to upset the apple cart here. He should have given at least a yellow for one of the neck rolls that was sent to the TMO (mainly for the one on Krappies, which was more of a spear tackle of sorts). Also at the breakdowns they got away with murder in my opinion (coming from the side, holding on and not rolling away fast enough). Then Hamish Watson should also have been penalized for his man-handling of Dillon Smit off the ball in the first half. I also felt they were often offside or very close to it when on defense. Some of our players really impressed me as well - mainly our loose forwards. Sangweni should have scored 1 (damn cramp - our fitness is definitely lacking), Francke Horn is a gem for the future and then it is still shocking to me that Vincent Tshituka wasn't called up to the Boks' extended team. The only area where we were shocking as normal, is with the lineouts, where PJ Botha clearly doesn't belong at this level in terms of his line-out throwing. I am probably very biased, but there was a lot of promising things I saw during the game.

Remember, even the Bulls were also shocked (dare I say humiliated) the 1st time in a long time they played against an International team in the Rainbow cup final and that team was much weaker than this B&I team and the Bulls could at least do some analyses of Benetton beforehand, which we could not do for this opposition. So all-in-all, I am not too dejected.

People reacted very surprised that we took such a “beating”..to be honest these type of games everybody wants to be nice including the refs.. We never really got quick ball and we always gave them some, trying to play positive rugby, while we could see how negative they are every tackle (not releasing until the ref tells them to), ruck and maul.
Their rush defence never being offside once or their chasers never being in front of the kicker, I would have liked to see on some replays. We never looked like any threat on attack and our defence was pathetic, not sure why we rush out of position every time. |

By all means, ek hou ook nie daarvan nie, but it is what it is. Ons het nie die geld van die Bulle en Sharks om klomp spelers te koop nie en ons moet somewhere spelers vandaan kry. Ons kontraktering is nie te sleg in my opinie nie - Jannie en Willem doen goed en deel baie met die ander ouens, terwyl ons dringend 'n losskakel nodig gehad het en dit is hoekom ons 'n ervare ou soos Zeilinga ingekry het wat ons nie 'n arm en been kos nie om die gap te vul (onthou ons was selfs sonder Hendrickse vir amper 2 maande terwyl hy by die o/20's was). Dit is nie perfek nie, want spelers soos Dan Kriel en EW Viljoen hoort nie op hierdie vlak, om 'n paar voorbeelde te noem, maar geen span kry kontraktering perfek nie. Selfs Gio Aplon was maar 'n duur fout vir die Bulle wat heeltyd beseer is. Dan kyk mens na Dayimani by die WeePee wat heeltyd by ons beseer was (dieselfde speler waaroor ons gekla het ook dat hy maar lyf wegsteek in die harde fasette van die game ook) en dadelik is hy weer beseer by die WeePee. Kyk ook na Orie wat ons darem laat gaan het en die WeePee vir some reason opgegaps het, ek voel dit is 'n goeie move, al dink die WP hulle score omdate SARU van sy salaris betaal - hy is 'n walking penalty en sy hande en passing is pateties. Combrinck is verby sy prime asook Mapoe en dit sou agteruit gaan wees om hulle weer te teken, asook 'n gamble. Hopelik bewys hulle my verkeerd, want ek hou van hulle en hulle herhinner my aan die "goeie ou dae". So ons het wat ons het en dit is 'n jong span. Help nie ons lewe in die verlede en wens Ackerman het nie gewaai nie. What happened happened en ons moet maar aanbeweeg al is dit moeilik.

Jip, volgens hoe ek dit verstaan is Altman skatryk (miljoenêr), teenoor Johann Rupert en Patrice Motsepe beide biljoenêrs (so elk een is ryker as Altman en daar is 2 van hulle). Dan het die Sharks die Amerikaans maatskappy wat ook biljoene het teenoor ons miljoene (dollars teenoor ons SA sente). So dit is waar die verskil in kom. En dan soos Transvaal ook genoem het, ons het vir die laaste jaar seker minimaal van 'n inkomste ingekry, so waar die ander unies groot geld betaal vir spelers die laaste 2jaar wat in kompetisies speel wat amper nie saak maak nie en soos in WeePee se geval amper hul bankrotskap veroorsaak, is ons ten minste ietwat slim met die geld wat ons het. Kyk, ek sal enige dag Altman bo die ander klomp vat wat ek bo genoem het, net oor sy passie en liefde vir die Leeus, maar ons moet redelik wees hier en kan nie verwag dat hy elke rand wat hy het in die Leeus in pomp net om te kompeteer met Rupert en Motsepe nie.
