Seven Boks start for DHL Stormers

There are seven Springboks in the DHL Stormers starting line-up for their Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked encounter with the Emirates Lions at DHL Newlands on Saturday.

Following their bye in the opening round last week, the DHL Stormers will get their Vodacom Super Rugby Unlocked campaign underway on home turf against the Johannesburg outfit, in a match that kicks off at 19h00 on Saturday.

There are just two changes to the starting line-up that did duty in the 34-21 victory against the Emirates Lions on Vodacom SuperFan Saturday at Loftus Versfeld at the start of the month.

Fit-again wing Sergeal Petersen replaces the injured Seabelo Senatla, while Bongi Mbonambi starts at hooker with Scarra Ntubeni among the replacements.

DHL Stormers Head Coach John Dobson said that his team is determined to make a convincing start to their campaign at DHL Newlands this weekend.

"This is our first competitive match since March, so to say that we are looking forward to it would be an understatement. The players and coaches have all worked hard in preparation and we can't wait to get going.

"We have been able to select a very strong team with some quality players missing out, so the challenge will be to gel as a unit and start our campaign on the front foot," he said.

Due to strict COVID-19 regulations, no spectators will be allowed inside the stadium on Saturday – that includes general seating and in the suites. The match will be broadcast live on SuperSport.

DHL Stormers: 15 Warrick Gelant, 14 Sergeal Petersen, 13 Dan du Plessis, 12 Rikus Pretorius, 11 Leolin Zas, 10 Damian Willemse, 9 Herschel Jantjies, 8 Juarno Augustus, 7 Ernst van Rhyn, 6 Siya Kolisi (captain), 5 JD Schickerling, 4 Salmaan Moerat, 3 Frans Malherbe, 2 Bongi Mbonambi, 1 Steven Kitshoff.
Replacements: 16 Scarra Ntubeni, 17 Leon Lyons, 18 Neethling Fouche, 19 Chris van Zyl, 20 Nama Xaba, 21 Paul de Wet, 22 Michal Haznar, 23 Tim Swiel.

En, het julle bietjie gesels Tvl?

Wat is jul voorspellings vir more se wedstryd?

Willem Alberts was in contact with a Covid-19 case and will therefore go into quarantine. Alberts was tested on Monday and cleared.
He will be replaced by Ruben Schoeman in the starting line-up for the match against the Stormers on Saturday.

Net my 5 sente. Dink Jaco Kriel moet kaptein wees.

n Wen sal briljant wees.

Lyk baie beter as die vorige twee games...

Stem.

In an ideal world Ratsa would be called out for his bias; players being pulled back, scrumming in, off the ball stuff, etc.. But instead he'll be hailas a hero and a genius be the "right team" won

We might have lost and while I feel Rasta was very harsh on the Lions and lenient towards the Stormers, I am really impressed thus far. I was expecting once again a hiding and we came close and might have taken it if we were a bit more composed, etc etc.

Our defence has been shored up. It seems we are hinging towards a rush defence, so i am not sure if we maybe reached out to Nienaber to assist here during the lockdown and so far so good.

Our attack is also looking quite impressive for new combinations and I am very happy with basically what I have seen from the entire backline thus far. Odendaal is especially looking very good. I think once again it must be noted that it seemed like it was very humid, so under the conditions, we did well with our style of play.

Our maul defence was also quite good, bar one or two occasions.

Our lineouts were mostly good while Visagie was on the field.

Our scrums are the main worry at this stage and here I think we are missing Malcolm Marx badly.

Elton was also showing a lot of flair and his cross field kicking must be right up there (if not the best in the world currently). He seems to have found some of his lost confidence and I know he has his critics, I however am very pleased with what I saw. His composure was superb with our first try when he was hit hard and backwards, but still got the ball out quickly. What I also liked was that it seemed liked the Stormers never knew what he was going to do whenever he received the ball with him shaping often to kick, the passing instead, this lead to many opportunities out wide, that weren't taken.

Jaco Kriel is a bit of a mixed bag at the moment and it is clear to see that his confidence took a knock over seas. He has however looked better every time he took the field, so it is only a matter of time before he is back to his old self I believe.

I think it must also be said that Marvin Orie's handling is also looking much improved.

Overall, I am happy and think it will be simply AWESOME to be back at the Park for 4 weeks in a row.
