They tend to struggle a little without Ben Smith , Naholo will boost them, but it will take a while for him to get form back as well.

The lions have been VERY AVERAGE this year, YET , we are probably 1 or 2 wins away from topping the SA conference. I see that as a huge positive, we've been poor , but winning.

We can always get better and improve, where the Sharks and Bulls don't have much more to their game. The Jagaures will be our biggest competition for the conference.

We have 2 major issues in our game (And both are actually easily fixable) :

1. We cant exit our 22, thats why we concede every time we score. That's probably costing us 14 points a game. Fix that and the whole dynamic of the game changes, teams start panicking , taking chances ect.

2. Defensive line speed, We wait for the opposition to attack , we concede tries from just outside our 22, but generally defend well on our own line. Thats because , on our line, we defend the pick and drive well, or we rush up quicker to close the space. It works for us, but somehow when we get back to general play, we are slow of the mark and allow the opposition to make easy meters and give them time to make better attacking decisions.

Our attack has been a little stale, however I don't believe its the issue of how we attack, but rather the circumstances . When we fix the defense and exit, we will have more time on the ball, and we will break teams down. We really mis Mostert , but it is what it is, we need to huge, Kwagga, Marx and Brink to get us over the advantage line.

I totally agree.

What a great post! Stem 100% saam.

@Rooibonte8

We have been running out of our 22, but teams have adapted , so should we.

Teams kick deep to us, they try and pin us down and force a turnover.

We must adapt, the one time Elton kicked back from a kick off, he actually kick out just beyond half way.

If we do that a few times, teams will have to keep their wings back to defend the kick , then we can run from our 22, as there will be space.

What we are doing, is running when there isn't space, and after 4 phases, we kick and we are predictable.

I don't have an issue with the guys playing what is in front of them and running from deep, but there must be space. If not, just kick it out and apply the pressure on them instead.

Laasweek Dinsdag was die verslag dat hy nog 2 weke uit gaan wees met die seer knie... Donderdag is hy in die span en moet weer uitsit vandag... Ek weet regtig nie of ek moet lag of huil nie....

Lions skipper Whiteley an injury doubt once more

Lions captain Warren Whiteley is an injury concern for Saturday's Super Rugbyclash against the Highlanders in Johannesburg.

The 31-year-old has struggled for fitness all season with first a pectoral injury and then a recurring knee injury seeing him sidelined.

He played all 80 minutes in this past weekend's 29-28 win over the Waratahs at Ellis Park, but the news out of the Lions camp on Tuesday was that he is suffering from a bruised knee.

According to a Lions spokesperson, Whiteley sat out of training on both Monday and Tuesday and a call on his availability for Saturday would only be taken later in the week.

If Whiteley is unavailable, then hooker Malcolm Marx will be expected to lead the side once more.

The Lions, who have contested the last three Super Rugby finals without ever getting over the line, are currently fourth in the South African conference and ninth overall, just outside of the playoff positions.

They will name their side for the Highlanders fixture on Thursday.

Die is n bitter goeie Highlander span. Hulle haker, Liam Coltmann is baie goed op die grond. Met Aaron Smith wat begin, gaan hulle verseker die tempo van die spel probeer manupileer.

WW has had a very bad run. First the torn pectoral muscle, then the knee injury, and now the bruised bone in the knee. All very unfortunate. But I like the team. I see Mahuza is playing 10 in the SS Challenge vs the Pumas. Very interesting choice.

The man has serious talent and serious gas. However, the coaching staff needs to decide whether he is a loosie, specifically no 8 or a backline player. He just needs to get his attitude on defence right and he can go far in SA Rugby.

Groot gamble om dit te doen as dit so is aangesien hy nog heeltyd sukkel met niggles vandat hy terug is van sy groot besering af, en 10-teen-1 nie 80 minute sal speel nie.
