When JA was first appointed, I was not convinced. But I am so glad that he has proven me wrong over the years. I have a huge amount of respect for him. Always humble and approachable at fan events. He has a rugby brain of note. I hope he gets a chance to coach at international level, as he has the ability to rank up there with the best international coaches. He is definitely as good, if not better than the NZ coaches.

I am in the same boat, I didn't think he would make the cut and man has he proven me wrong! We are certainly going to miss him big time!

I agree. However, short of being able to match his Gloucester offer, the Lions management has done the next best thing to appoint Swys as the new head coach. But JA's loss will be felt for some time to come, irrespective of the continuity that Swys' appointment will bring.

He spent 6 years with us as head coach...that's a long time as head coach so it was to be expected that it would come to an end soon.

He took a team of so called discards and has beens, and turned them into a championship contending side in the space of a few short years. I remember a speech he made at a function shortly after we were kicked out of SR. He said he wanted to get us back into SR, and then win the trophy. I thought he had smoked something really good that night. And each year, he surpassed expectations, except maybe for this year, where we were looking at the draw and kind of expected a top 2 finish.
