The Springboks confirmed a touring squad of 36 players for their Castle Lager Rugby Championship matches against New Zealand and Argentina in the next three weeks. SA Rugby Director of Rugby, Rassie Erasmus, coaching staff and eight players jetted out of Johannesburg soon after the team’s 35-17 victory over Australia at Emirates Airline Park on Saturday night to join an advance party of 14 players who left on Thursday. A further 10 players take the next available routing on Sunday evening. The eight players who travelled on Saturday evening were Eben Etzebeth, Jesse Kriel, Pieter-Steph du Toit, Rynhardt Elstadt, Trevor Nyakane, Elton Jantjies, Herschel Jantjies and Bongi Mbonambi. It was a good win vs the ozzys last week. We were nowhere near perfect , but great to start with a win in the bag.
I am backing our boys vs the AB's as well, think we have their number.... Kwagga, and Marx should be the lions in the starting XV with Elton on the bench. When Ampiwe recovers, he should also get a starting birth , but when Siya gets back Kwagga should be relegated to the bench. Thats 4 lions out of 23 if we pick our "Best" side. Still 4 more than the 2015 world cup. I also see Mostert and Faf as "Lions" as the last SA provincial side they played for was the lions. |
