I chat to Lemmer once in a while so perhaps I can bring it to his attention, not that I know what Dreyer is doing wrong, you will have to enlighten me
High penalty count at scrum time. He also tends to over extend quite often. It is something that happens when a prop tries to get as low as legally allowed. It is a matter of where he places his feet on engagement. When he gets it right, he is devastating, but he gets penalised quite often.

Dreyer, like Julian, is a prop that scrums very low, which is one reason why he is such a strong scrummager. I have also notice that he gets penalised wrongfully almost half of the time, as once the pressure starts to increase, the looseheads against him tend to start scrumming inwards, from the outside, which then automatically turns the tighthead inwards as well.
With this I am not saying he is totally innocent, but he is definitely not guilty everytime.

Were there not rule changes recently that affected his scrummaging? I don't recall him having problems two seasons back.

I agree. Many times I see the loosie turn in, forcing Dreyer in as well. What I do notice is that on the bind that, Dreyer moves his feet back a bit more to get lower. Its that little step back that causes the problems. He needs to learn to not move as far back as he does. I think its since he has returned fom his injury that he has been penalised more.
