LEICESTER Tigers look to have ended their search for a new second row following talks with Lions ace Marvin Orie who is fresh from a spell in the Pro14.

Orie, 27, who has won three caps for South Africa is no stranger to the United Kingdom after making seven appearances for the Ospreys earlier this season.

He has played for the Lions since 2017 after leaving the Blue Bulls and caught the eye of the Tigers during his spell in South Wales.

It will solve a problem for Geordan Murphy who has been looking to improve his forward pack ahead of the arrival of head coach Steve Borthwick from the RFU in the summer.

Murphy, who signed fly-half Zack Henry last week has still got a big No.8 on his shopping list and has got recruitment chief Jan McGinty on the case.

This is Fine in all honesty... i know it is experience, but he really is not adding much value to the team...just dont think there are many locks around that we can just snap up though... will have to rely on juniors and Varsity cup to bring players through.

Ai - regtig al moeg om te lees deesdae hoe ons spelers verloor....en seker nog n hele klomp wat gaan waai......so die span bou ding sal nooit werk....ons moet perform ,en spelers kry wat kan perform en wil speel - Bring weer daai trots terug wat Ackerman opgebou het vir die rooi trui....

Baie foute in die lynstane, alhoewel hy partykeer ook opponente se balle steel of swakker maak, en slaan baie aan as hy balle moet vang en ek voel net partykeer hy is stadig en maak nie regtig enige impak as baldraer nie

Ons kort twee ordentlike slotte. Alle suksesvolle rugby spanne nog ooit het twee of drie "serious" slotte gehad. Schoeman sal nog ontwikkel en kan baie goed word, maar verder sal ons 'n plan moet maak want hierdie "gemiddelde" slotte werk nie.

Whiteley rate nogals vir Van Der Sluys baie hoog.

Ek is n massiewe Snyman fan en dit sal amazing wees om hom te teken, maar ek twyfel of dit sal gebeur, want ek is seker daar is spanne wat groot geld sy kant sal gooi wanneer hy klaar is in Japan, waar hy seker reeds baie verdien.

Ons gaan n ervare slot nodig kry,Schoeman is nog jonk maar lyk na die een man met baie potensiaal....Herbts en Notnagel het my nog nie beindruk......Vermaak dink ek ook kan n groote word,kort net speel tyd.....

Think we need a proper Giant sized lock.. somebody with real strength and Engine... RG Snyman would be wonderful. I think we miss Andries Ferreira even :( he was very underated. 

Not impressed by Herbst and Notnagel yet. Cant say we have many juniors either... maybe this Adriaan Alberts can become something in the future. Or Vermaak.

RG Snyman is meer 'n beweeglike slot soos wat Matfield seker was, as wat hy 'n sterk slot is, en hy het baie goeie hande en is baie goed met sy offloads. Sou verseker 'n groot aanwins wees vir enige span

Daars baie kommentaar oor die nodigheid van 'n fisiese slot wat die opposisie kan boelie, Toe die Bulle en die Bokke bekers kom impalm het, kon ons ander spanne fisies intemedeer met sulke spelers. 

Tog het die Stormers die afgelope paar jaar maar gesukkel om Kiwi spanne in toom te hou met fisiese spelers soos Etsabeth en Pieter Steph du Toit, terwyl die Leeus onder Ackerman kompeternend was met 'n taai, beweeglike en vaardige pak. 

Behalwe vir Le Roux Roets (wat meestal as impak speler gebruik word), lyk dit ook of die Sharks pak onder voorspeler afrigter Brett Janse van Rensburg, ook heelwat meer gefokus is op beweeglikheid en vaardigheid as die Sharks van die verlede.
