The Toyota Cheetahs will be looking to remain unbeaten in a tricky Carling Currie Cup match in Cape Town against the DHL Western Province, and the Sigma Lions will be desperate to break their losing streak in the competition against a confident Windhoek Draught Griquas in Johannesburg.

The match in Johannesburg, originally scheduled to take place at Emirates Airline Park on Friday, has been rescheduled and will now kick off at 15h00 at Wits Rugby Stadium on Thursday, while the encounter in Cape Town kicks off at 16h45 on Friday.

The final match on the weekend, between the Cell C Sharks and the Vodacom Bulls, scheduled to take place in Durban on Saturday afternoon, has been cancelled, with the result declared a draw and both teams receiving two log points apiece.

The Airlink Pumas have a bye this weekend, while both of the matches will be broadcast live on SuperSport.

On Thursday, Windhoek Draught Griquas will be looking to make it two from two in 2022 against the Sigma Lions, as they aim to repeat their victory in Gauteng from 2021 – a win that snapped a three-game losing streak against the men in white and red.

Last month, the team from the Northern Cape won by 49-17 in Kimberley and a victory in Johannesburg will ensure they remain in the hunt for a place in the semi-finals for a second year running.

Second-placed Toyota Cheetahs return to action following a break in the previous round and Hawies Fourie's charges will fancy their chances to maintain their unbeaten status as they travel to Cape Town for their meeting with DHL WP.

The Free Staters have won all of six games so far this season, while the Cape side could only manage one win from seven starts.

But it won’t be easy, as DHL WP have won two from their last five meetings against the men from Bloemfontein. Earlier this year, the Toyota Cheetahs won 24-17 at home on the opening weekend, but the last time the two sides met in Cape Town, in August last year, the hosts clinched a 40-39 thriller.

Meanwhile, the third round of the Carling Currie Cup First Division is scheduled for next week after the past weekend's second-round fixtures delivered wins for the Leopards, Down Touch Griffons, Black Lion, Valke and SWD.
