Ek dink ons is nou omtrent op dieselfde plek as wat ons in 2014/2015 was. As ons die spelers wat ons het kan hou, kan ons oor 2 tot 3 jaar weer een van die sterkste franchises in die kompetisie wees. Oor 2 jaar het ons spelers sowel as ons afrigters net al soveel meer experience.

Ons het van onder af weer aan n squad begin bou. Ons almal is allergies vir die woord BOU, maar dis wat dit is. Ons het 'n hele paar groot naam spelers in ons geledere, die ander unies en oorsese klubs weet nog net nie van hulle nie, omdat hulle jonk is. Ons challenge gaan wees om daai outjies op die lang termyn te commit.
Waar ons dalk nog sal moet kyk om die spelerskorps aan te vul, is op vaskop stut (vir wanneer Jannie aftree), Slot ( vir wanneer Willem Alberts aftree) en losskakel.

En oor die groot name.. eerlik moet ons nie worry oor groot name as ons nie eers ons huidige talent kan behou nie. Ons kannie elke jaar n nuwe span bou nie, iewers moet ons nou begin besluit wie is goed genoeg en gaan ons aanhou en die res moet ons laat gaan. Kyk hoe great is Quan Horn? (EW) Krappies (Warner) so daar is 2 groot name wat uit die span gehou word want ons het talent wat in daai plek kan speel. Henco/James M ens. moet kans kry, anders gaan hulle soos Rohan by die Bulle verlore raak en naam maak op n ander plek. Daar is nog baie sulke ouens wat iemand net moet back op die regte tyd. Ons karring aan met Rass, terwyl ons sit met moerse talent in daai posisie. Ons gaan koop vir Louw want ons wil Burger vervang, ipv net een van die ouens n kans gee daarso.

Which big name will join the Lions?
  The Sharks have: money, an ambitious project/owners, a star studded squad and beach lifestyle. The Bulls have: money, a star studded squad, big name coaches and are winning trophies. The Stormers have: a star studded squad, a well respected coach and beach lifestyle The Lions have: talented young players and a Bok legend as a defence coach.... Big names want to play with other big names and they want to win things. Being in a winning team = Springboks. Look at Alberts all those years ago - absolute beast for the Lions and not considered for the Boks, joins the Sharks and wins a few games - suddenly a Bok starter. The same is true now. Would Marx re-join us to try and get his Bok starting place back knowing he would have to carry the team and still be losing more games than he wins while Mbonambi is winning more games with the Sharks? The only way we are getting a big name without major changes at the union (top management, coaching teams and money) is if SA Rugby feels sorry for us and tells a returning Bok to join us. It is depressing and only a 2013 style reboot (including top management) will help (in my opinion).

Ek dink dis moeilik met 3 eersteklas loskop stutte, 1 gaan sukkel om speelkans te kry. Sti en JP is beter as Dylan in my opinie

Met die Leeus wat begin wen en die Tshituka broers wat saam kan speel in 'n URC span wat goeie rugby speel, moet daar 'n manier wees om Vincent te oortuig om te bly. Bied hom meer aan en hy sal bly. By die sharks gaan hy net nog 'n loosie wees wat roteer gaan word om almal speelkans te gee.

Yes, although I think the Varsity Cup helps a lot with those players who aren't noticed early but who has the potential to make it.

I agree , but think it’s a natural thing. People are encouraged to Pursue their dreams , especially these days. The reality is that a small % of players make it to the top, at the same token though there are many many players with massive potential that don’t make it. Rassie is saying let’s contract less players and look after them , and I agree , but then we need a strong “semi pro” safety net where someone can still break through if they have the potential. For example , in 2014 Mapimpi and Am played for border. Look at them now. |

Lol, Dan Kriel? Soos in die tweeling broer van Jesse Kriel? Ons het dan almal gejuig toe hy nie eers 'n jaar terug weg is by ons. Good riddance. Swak swak speler daardie. En Pieter Jansen wat skaars 'n bal kon ingooi by die lynstane? Ons het hoeka ook gejuig toe hy weg is by ons nie te lank terug. Hy was loshande in my opinie een van die redes hoekom ons lynstane so pateties was vandat Marx weg is. Duncan Matthews is nie sleg nie, maar ons het redelik baie vleuels reeds op die boeke van beter gehalte. In my opinie is dit juis die tipe spelers wat jonger en beter spelers terug hou by unies. Robbie Coetzee dink ek is 'n speler wat sal waarde kan toevoeg by ons en dalk die res ook, alhoewel Dillon maar gereeld sukkel met beserings. |

Wonder of spelers wat in MLR in Amerika speel sou kon waarde toevoeg tans. Robbie Coetzee, Pieter Jansen, Hencus van Wyk, Rhyno Herbst, Dillon Smit, Dan Kriel, Duncan Matthews.
Sekerlik sou hierdie spelers baie waarde kon toevoeg. Nie net as URC diepte nie, maar beslis ook as versterking van CC squad. |

Wat het van Henco van Wyk geword? Ek hoor die laaste jaar of 2 so baie van hom, maar hom nooit sien speel by die Leeus nie. Daar is selfs tribute video's van hom op YouTube van hom as die next big thing. Is hy beseer of het hy net nie die speler geword wat mense van hom verwag het nie?
