As much as I don't like Seconds, all he was doing was relaying what the TMO said, and was following the lead as to what AJ was saying.
Nope, before he was relaying, when AJ initially referred the matter to the TV ref, he already started pleading the Stormers case with AJ, claiming mitigation.

Dit was n definitiewe rooi kaart en ek verstaan nie hoe dit enigsins n mitigating faktor is dat hy op sy rug geland het (al het sy kop ook kontak gemaak met die grond). Deur op jou rug te land, kan jy nogsteeds verlam word, ens ens. Hoe die hel is dit enigsins n mitigating faktor?!?!

Hel, selfs Dobson het na die game gesê hy sou nie kon stry as dit n rooikaart was nie... Shocking van die ref en van Seconds!

Nature of Offence: Law 9.17 A player must not tackle, charge, pull, push or grasp an opponent whose feet are off the ground.

Johan du Toit of the Stormers has been cited for alleged foul play during a Super Rugby match at the weekend.

du Toit is alleged to have contravened Law 9.17 during the match between the Sharks and Stormers at Jonnson Kings Park in Durban on 14 March 2020.

Upon further review of the match footage, the Citing Commissioner deemed in his opinion the incident had met the Red Card threshold for foul play.

The Case is to be considered in the first instance by the SANZAAR Foul Play Review Committee which will take place on Monday 16 March 2020, 9am(SAST), 6pm(AEDT), 8pm(NZDT) via video-conference.

All SANZAAR disciplinary matters are in the first instance referred to the Foul Play Review Committee to provide the option of expediting the judicial process.
